Cooking with a focus on seasonality has been a growing food trend over the last couple of years. While this is what we've always done here at Easy Entertaining, we're thrilled to see more people supporting the farm-to-fork movement.
We operate a farm-to-fork company for many reasons. With the growing movement, we wanted to share with you why we are a company of "locavores".
Quality: Sourcing our products locally allows us to curate menus and dishes that encompass the true flavors of the ingredients we use.
Eat a tomato in June and describe it to yourself. You'll most likely use adjectives like "juicy" and "sweet". Eat the same tomato in January and let us know if you use the same adjectives. Your juicy, sweet tomato is now mealy with practically no flavor. Trust us.
The same philosophy applies to our proteins (chicken, beef, pork, eggs, etc.). Sourcing from local farms means we're getting a product we trust. We know that the chickens we source haven't been pumped with antibiotics and additives and we know the beef we order is grass fed and the animals have been raised with care and purpose.
We love food we can trust. Our farm-to-fork process allows us to serve food we can trust, and truly be proud of.
Economic Support + Sense of Community: We love supporting our own community. Purchasing sustainably supports our own economy.
You stop for coffee in the morning from your favorite "mom and pop" coffee shop instead of Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, perhaps because they have better coffee (and they probably do), but also because you like supporting a small business, right? We're the same way. We prefer to support our farmer friends running their own small businesses to help us run ours. This not only helps us build friendships and relationships, but also helps foster a sense of community in our tiny state.
Keeping the Creative Juices Flowing: We never get bored. Our ingredients change seasonally which means our menus have to change, too.
Our products are never stagnant, so our minds are never stale. We're always thinking and dreaming up new ways to use the ingredients we have at our disposal which means there's always something new for our cafe guests or catering clients to enjoy!

We encourage you to #shoplocal and support your local farmers and artisans, too. If you're a native Rhode Islander, Farm Fresh Rhode Island is a great resource for buying local. If you're not a local, we urge you to research farmer's markets and local products in your area.
