Some weddings just feel like magic—and Julia and Alex’s September celebration on Block Island was exactly that. A dreamy coastal backdrop, meaningful design details, and a menu that matched the mood made this private estate wedding one we’ll never forget.
A Love Story That Began by the Sea
Block Island has always held a special place in Julia and Alex’s hearts. Every summer since childhood, their families vacationed there—but it wasn’t until 2012, outside Aldo’s Bakery, that the couple officially met. A chance encounter through mutual friends brought them together, and from that moment on, the island became more than just a summer escape—it became part of their love story.
An NYC Engagement with a Personal Touch
After graduating college and moving into a tiny NYC apartment, Julia and Alex weathered the early pandemic days together in upstate New York. Once they returned to the city, they found their dream apartment in the West Village—cozy, full of light, and finally theirs. On an ordinary Thursday in August, Alex planned a dinner close to home, then proposed in their beautifully curated space. A private boat tour around lower Manhattan sealed the celebration in true New York style.
A Wedding on Water (Almost Literally)
Their Block Island wedding was a traditional New England summer celebration—with a twist. Julia walked down the aisle on a platform built over the pool, giving the illusion she was walking on water. The ceremony space featured a driftwood arbor surrounded by coastal blooms, and the reception tent was a study in thoughtful design: rattan chandeliers, Serena & Lily sconces, cascading white roses and hydrangeas, and al fresco lounge areas for guests to mingle and unwind.

The Menu: Elevated Comfort, Island-Style
Julia and Alex wanted their food to feel easy, joyful, and deeply satisfying—just like the rest of their day. Easy Entertaining was honored to provide a full menu that reflected their laidback elegance, along with the cake that capped off the celebration.
Guests enjoyed a spread designed for sharing, conversation, and celebration, featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients and coastal-inspired flavors. From passed apps to plated moments, we focused on creating a dining experience that felt both seamless and celebratory.
And the cake? A classic with a modern twist—beautifully simple, made from scratch, and the perfect sweet ending to a perfect day.
